DocuSource Gets FSC Certification
RTP, N.C. (February 25, 2009) - Today, more than ever before, there is a growing emphasis on renewable natural resources. Businesses are looking for ways to assure their vendors and strategic partners embrace eco-friendly practices. DocuSource, (www.docusourceofnc.com), a full-service resource for printing and communication materials, announces today that it has received the Chain of Custody (CoC) certification through the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The certification was earned by demonstrating the company’s compliance with environmentally responsible procurement policies.
DocuSource is one of only two printing companies in the Triangle area, and one of only 34 printers in North Carolina, to achieve certification. In the context of a printing company, FSC certification means that the paper being used can be traced back to its source through its CoC documentation. This includes clearly labeling all materials by their source type and percentage.
“The expert team at DocuSource is engaged to do our part to help sustain the environment and meet our clients’ requests of sustainable practices,” says Kathy Murchison, president and CEO of DocuSource of NC, LLC. “We all need to be aware of our impact on the planet. An important part is making sure that the paper we use is from a forest that is managed in a way that protects our natural resources.”
The FSC’s CoC certification is awarded only to companies that manufacture, process or trade in forest products and can demonstrate that they operate responsible sourcing policies by complying with specific forest sustainability procurement policies. FSC is recognized by corporate and governmental sectors as the model to ensure that forest resources are maintained for today and for future generations.
About the Forestry Stewardship Council:
The Forest Stewardship Council, an organization that audits companies to assure that the wood and pulp used in the production process are grown, harvested and manufactured for high environmental standards. Its purpose is to coordinate the development of forest management standards, to provide public information about certification, and to work with certification organizations to promote FSC certification in the U.S. FSC standards represent the world’s strongest system for guiding forest management toward sustainable outcomes. There are 10 principles and 57 criteria that address forest management sustainable practices. To use any FSC trademarks or initials, the printer must have chain-of-custody certification.
